Historical antique dated 1857 Victorian era gold shell mourning brooch! This incredible antique pin has a gold shell frame, and features black enamel with the worlds "In Memory Of" highlighted in gold on the front. In the center are curls of hair framed under glass, and the backside is lovingly engraved "H. Collings May 28th 1857". The statement brooch secures with a classic pin backing, and has an added bail so it can be worn as a necklace. A sentimental and beautiful piece of Victorian mourning jewelry!

CONDITION - Good antique condition. Gold shell metal has been professionally polished & cleaned. Age appropriate patina & wear remains. Glass and hair are intact and preserved, with some pieces out of place. Pin secures as it should, and extends further out from the side of the brooch. Amazing antique hair brooch!
