Giving back is the truest form of success

Philanthropy

YWCA Lancaster

I selected this non-profit organization because their mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, promoting peace, peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all is especially meaningful to me! I became familiar with this organization years ago when I participated in their Race Against Racism event, which was remarkably moving for me, emotionally and physically - pun intended! I think it's incredible how YWCA Lancaster has been leading change since 1889, pioneering social justice, and women's empowerment. - Laura Mae

Milagro House

I chose the Milagro House in Lancaster as my non-profit to give back to because I love that they empower and uplift women through an educational approach. “Milagro House provides education, housing and support services for women and their children who would otherwise be experiencing homelessness. Our vision is to prepare the women and children who come through our doors with the skills they need to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty and move from dependency to self-sufficiency.” - Amanda Jean

Columbia Animal Shelter

I chose the Columbia Animal Shelter in Columbia Pennsylvania, because of their dedication to rescuing and re-homing local at-risk animals! Judy McKonly’s dream was to build the best cat shelter in the country and after her passing in August of 2017, her family set out to fulfill her dream of building the best animal shelter in the country. The Vigilant Fire Hall was purchased to be re-purposed as the new Columbia Animal Shelter, a state of the art adoption and low cost clinic facility. The Columbia Animal Shelter embraces the shared benefits of a more humane community and is seen as a resource in animal welfare, animal health and humane education! - Dahlia Jean

Lancaster Pet Pantry

I chose Pet Pantry for their support of Lancaster County pets through providing affordable spay/neuter procedures, discounted vet services, and free food assistance to pet owners in need. This shelter is close to my heart because I adopted my two precious kitties from Pet Pantry after they rescued them from a cruel situation. I am so thankful for Pet Pantry’s dedication to “providing loving forever homes to cats and dogs that are just looking for that second chance in life to show how amazing they can be as a loving addition to your family.” - Jess Lynne

Good Samaritan Services

Not only did they offer critical housing to my sister when she left an unsafe situation, they also offer financial literacy education and help in achieving goals such as finding permanent housing, attending school, and securing a job. “Good Samaritan serves men, women, and children all over Lancaster and Chester county. They also have a savings matching program and provide emergency shelter and meals to residents in Ephrata. “ - Heidi Grace
