Onyx Signet Ring - Mid Century 10k Yellow Gold Natural Black Chalcedony Gem - Dated 1954 Size 8 Evening High School of Baltimore Owl Jewelry

Highly unique dated 1954 Mid Century era vintage 10k yellow gold natural black onyx signet ring! This stylish statement ring features an octagonal flat natural black chalcedony (commonly known as onyx) gemstone with wide handsome shoulders adorned with the class date year 1954. The gem is accented with the oval owl insignia for the Evening High School of Baltimore. The institution was vital for adult and non-traditional students seeking to complete their secondary education. During the 1950s, the school shared facilities with Baltimore City College and Frederick Douglass High School, and placed significant emphasis on vocational and technical training to meet the demands of Baltimore’s post-war industrial and economy. The inside of the shank is hand engraved with initials "JAC" which research indicates may be: James A. C. Records obtained from the 1954 Green Bag (City College yearbook) include graduates who attended the evening session held at the 33rd Street campus. A beautiful piece of fine vintage jewelry, with a ton of history to share!

MARKINGS / HISTORY - Inside of band is marked "10k JENKINS" for J. Jenkins Sons Co. of 20 W. Redwood St. Baltimore, MD, circa 1930s & 1940s.

CONDITION - Good/Fair vintage condition. Gold metal has been lightly cleaned and polished. Minimal age appropriate patina & wear remains. Natural onyx is secure; oval owl insignia slightly loose but secure. Amazing vintage college ring!
