Highly unique dated 1956 vintage 10k yellow gold created blue spinel intaglio ring! This stylish statement signet ring features a carved created blue spinel intaglio gemstone that depicts a coat of arms featuring a dog, an eagle, and a shining star above. The wide tapered shoulders are adorned with the class date year 1956 and initials MC. The inside of the shank is hand engraved with what appears to be the name Maureen C. Spellman (but this is up to interpretation). A beautiful piece of fine vintage jewelry, full of so much vintage history!

METAL / MATERIAL - 10k yellow gold, created blue spinel intaglio

MARKINGS / HISTORY - Inside of band is marked "Balfour 10k" for Balfour & Co., founded in 1913 by Lloyd G. Balfour in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Balfour & Co. initially specialized in manufacturing high-quality jewelry for fraternities and sororities. It later expanded into a leading producer of military insignia, custom class rings, and championship trophies.

CONDITION - Good vintage condition. Gold metal has been lightly cleaned and polished. Minimal age appropriate patina & wear remains. Created spinel has minor age consistent wear to surface of intaglio carvings, but is in good shape. Amazing vintage coat of arms intaglio ring!

SIZE / MEASUREMENTS - Size: 7, Ring Head: 17.5 x 13.6 mm, Rise Of Ring Off Finger: 3.0 mm, Shank: 3.3 mm, Weight: 6.9 grams
