Incredible antique circa 1890s Victorian era sterling silver Hindu deity repousse locket! The front of the historical statement locket is beautifully handcrafted with highly detailed repousse imagery of a Hindu deity with a pot belly, dancing on a cobra, with a five pointed headdress. The locket is further detailed with bird and jungle flora motifs. This antique circa 1890s era keepsake locket contains a section of human hair under glass. The opposite side is ready to gold your own photo or keepsake!

Anglo-Indian sterling silver repoussé lockets from the Victorian/British Raj era (approx. 1858–1947) represent Hindu deities (Swami) in high-relief repoussé. These popular 19th-century colonial souvenirs were heavily influenced by Queen Victoria's own admiration for Indian culture, and were commonly commissioned of Indian silversmiths by British officers and civilians as personal, sentimental mementos. CONDITION - Good antique condition. Sterling silver metal has been professionally polished & cleaned. One glass insert (over blank section) is cracked. Locket opens and closes as it should. Amazing antique locket!
