It's been a beautiful year at Maejean Vintage, and we're celebrating all of the wonderful vintage and antique treasures we've been able to find homes for in 2021. I asked the whole team to reflect on their favorite pieces that we've sourced, processed, and/or sold this year, and we're recapping them here for all of our enjoyment!
All of us on the Maejean team occasionally have our "regrets" about not snatching up a piece before it hits the shop! The 1950s flower enamel band below is one of those pieces for a few of us. The floral design on a black background makes this cigar band such a unique piece that we've yet to see another of!
Every now and then we get a diamond ring in the shop that takes the breath away from every single team member. This ring did that for us! The center diamond in this stunner is an impressive 1.18 carats and is accented by smaller round single cut diamonds and baguette diamonds. The intricate details in this ring are absolutely out of this world and we were so happy to see it find its new home so close to the holidays!
Remember how big Netflix's Bridgerton was at the beginning of this year? This gorgeous garnet festoon necklace from the Victorian era took us back to grand balls and ornate palaces! (Yes, we know Bridgerton did not take place in the Victorian era, but the vibe is there!)
Sometimes we find inventory at the most surprising times! While on vacation, Dahlia had the opportunity to source this stunning cocktail ring featuring a beautiful depiction of a woman's face set in onyx, surrounded by a lovely twisted gold border. Imagine our excitement when, a few weeks later, we sourced a matching pendant! These two gorgeous statement pieces became a pair when they found a home with one of our customers who was glad to take both together.
One of my personal favorites from this year was this 1960s lapis lazuli ring. This magnificent ring not only features a deep blue lapis lazuli gem, but has a gorgeous setting accented with diamonds and floral motifs. We just love the detail in this chunky statement ring!
We're still dreaming about this fabulous platinum diamond cluster ring! This quintessential Art Deco piece is centered with a .70 carat old European cut diamond surrounded by 10 rose cut diamonds and detailed engravings in a shield pattern. The customer who snagged this masterpiece definitely has a winner on their hands!
This Modern Estate lemon quartz necklace with a lovely cultured pearl halo took our breath away, and Amanda was happy to wear it to the Fig fall issue release party in September. This shining star of a pendant was in and out of our shop in a flash!
For perhaps the most stunning earrings find of 2021, we have to showcase these beautiful 1940s ruby earrings! With flower-shaped tops featuring rubies and pearls and gorgeous dangling open metal work set with more of these lovely gemstones, this was definitely our most jaw-dropping set of earrings of the year!
Some antique pieces of jewelry come with so many details that spark such interesting questions, it becomes one of those pieces you never forget! This rotating Victorian brooch is one of those pieces. One side of this brooch features an antique photo of a young child, while the other side showcases intricate hair work of a floral design and some initials backed by mother of pearl. The inner section of the brooch, surrounded by black enamel, rotates freely to wear either side facing front. A fascinating antique treasure that, as of now, is still available in our shop!
We are so immensely thankful for every customer who has been a part of making this the best year at MJV yet.
