Fantastic antique circa 1900 Edwardian era 14k yellow gold elk charm! This rare stick pin features a majestic figural elk head detailed with realistic texture, antlers, and a natural red ruby gemstone eye. There is a five pointed star fixed between the elk's antlers and prong set with a natural old European cut diamond. This antique pin would make a beautiful tie pin, hat pin, or lapel pin. Stunning antique treasure!

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was founded in New York City on February 16, 1868, originating from a social group called the Jolly Corks led by English actor Charles Algernon Sidney Vivian. It transitioned from a theatrical club into a major American fraternal and charitable organization.

MARKINGS / HISTORY - Pin is marked "14k" with a maker's mark for Riker Brothers Jewelry, which began in 1846 when William Riker and George H. Tay founded a jewelry firm in Newark, New Jersey. Key milestones include evolving through early partnerships like Riker & Goble, bringing in William's sons in the 1870s, and officially becoming the Riker Brothers in 1892 before closing in the 1940s.
