Beautiful vintage Art Deco Era silver blue morpho butterfly wing souvenir ring! This unique English piece features a natural blue morpho butterfly wing with iridescent vivid blue colors of chitin, which is preserved under a protective domed glass. The butterfly wing is detailed with a classic cameo style figure of a Greek woman. A unique piece of 1930s era souvenir jewelry, marked from England!

MARKINGS / HISTORY - Inside of ring head tamped "SILVER ENGLAND 31" .

Butterfly wing jewelry's popularity soared in 1924 due to a feature at the British Empire Exhibition by the firm Thomas L. Mott. It remained very popular in England well into the 1930s and subsequently also became a trend in the U.S.

CONDITION - Good vintage condition. Silver has been cleaned and lightly polished, with a light vintage tarnish remaining to. Shank is off-round with some age appropriate wear to the morpho butterfly wing. Incredible vintage art deco souvenir ring!
