Sale - Love Token Bracelet - Victorian Sterling Silver Engraved Coins Curb Style Chain - Antique Late 1800's Heron Bird Egret Letter Jewelry
Incredible antique Victorian era love token charm bracelet! This stylish bracelet is comprised of a retro curb style link chain, that secures with a classic spring ring. There are seven love tokens strung throughout out the bracelet, that were likely collected and created into a charm bracelet later on. The first coin has the initials "CR" on the front and the date 1876 on the backside. The second coin is engraved with the shape of an old fashioned boot, and the backside has the date 1877. The third coin is engraved with the word "Nantasket" and the dates '79 & '82, and the date "1875" on the backside. The fourth coin has the initials "LJC" on the front, and the date 1875 on the backside. The fifth coin is engraved with the name "Alice" on the front, and the backside has the date 1888. The sixth coin has overlapping initials which are possibly "EMB" and the backside is dated 1890. The seventh and final coin is engraved with a large bird in a marshy grassland, and the backside is vaguely marked with the date 1881. A very collectible piece of antique jewelry, that is ready to be worn! *Sale - price reduced from $375 USD to $365 USD.
Love tokens were often given amongst those courting, dating or married for special occasions or before one of the partners would leave on a long trip (war, jobs, etc). In the US, love tokens could be designed at fairs and carnivals, where jewelers would engrave a lover's name into a small coin. When the owner missed their other half they would rub the coin to ease their longing.
