Interview with Dahlia Jean

We are beyond thrilled to officially announce the addition of Maejean Vintage's first employee, Dahlia Jean!

Dahlia is a vintage jewelry lover, mother of the smartest little two year old, essential oil connoisseur, and the creative influence behind Maejean Vintage. She is also the friend that first introduced us to Etsy over 5 years ago! Did we mention she also has the middle name Jean?!

When she's not in the office coming up with creative future plans for the business, you can find her at the post office, where she is shipping orders to customers all over over the globe. She is the BEST at removing 100 years of tarnish off of antique jewelry, and her long slender fingers make her the perfect hand model :)

Q: What is your favorite piece of jewelry you own?

A: My 10k gold & seed pearl crescent moon & star stick pin conversion ring from MJV!

Q: How did you get in to vintage / antique?
A: My grandmother was an avid vintage / antique collector (hoarder) and growing up I loved rummaging through all her goodies. She always had plenty of fun, unique jewelry, knick knacks & buttons. Some of my favorite memories were when she would decorate for the holidays, with an abundance of vintage items all over the house. And I've made sure to carry on that tradition with my daughter.

Q: When you aren't working at Maejean Vintage, what can we find you doing?
A: Going on adventures with my baby Vienna, thrifting, renovating my victorian house, snuggling with my ragamese kitty "meow", and having fun family photo shoots with my little sisters Lorena & Nova!

Q: What is your favorite jewelry era?
A: I love Victorian era pieces because of the sentimental symbolism they often have. It is exciting researching the different motifs and finding personal meaning in them. I also have a soft spot for retro pieces because I'm a free spirit at heart (I love a good 1960s turquoise ring)!

Q: What vintage jewelry pieces do you hope to add to your collection?
A: I would love to acquire a unique opal ring (or a few), a sweetheart expansion bracelet, a star & moon locket, a dogwood flower ring, a banded agate ring, and someday a super special Victorian diamond ring.

Laura and I are so thankful for our dear friend Cameron from NYC who introduced us to Dahlia, who is an absolutely perfect fit for Maejean Vintage. We are looking forward to seeing Maejean Vintage grow even more with the additional expertise, & creativity of Miss Dahlia Jean!
