This year was our first time attending the Miami Antique Show, which is known as the largest indoor antique show in the WORLD! The show features some of the most high end pieces you will likely ever encounter, including: furniture, decor, art, and of course, jewelry!
We were absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of antique jewelry we came across. We even tried on a ring that once belonged to a queen (wishing I would have gotten a photo of it)!
We were a little bummed we didn't see much silver or gold filled jewelry, but the amount of fine collectible pieces in gold and platinum did not disappoint! If you plan to attend next year's show, make sure you wear comfortable shoes (*cough* *cough* Laura Mae) and give yourself several days to get through the entire building! Entry is $20 for the entire show, but if you know dealers setting up there they may be able to provide you with free passes.
One of the most unusual pieces I tried on was an antique gold and black enamel skeleton ring, dated 1716. The lady who owns it explained to us that these pieces were very popular during the time, to remind the wearer that death is inevitable and to enjoy every day. Quite an eerie yet sentimental piece! It was even more strange when I realized the date on the inside was my birthday - September 28th. Yikes! Quite a reminder to never take a day for granted.
The show was truly incredible, but we found some of our best deals at an antique flea market just a few blocks from the show. The Lincoln Road Antique & Collectible Market features several blocks of dealers showcasing vintage jewelry, clothing, and oddities. The streets were also lined with fresh produce, smoothies, juices, and baked goods.
We brought home a lot of beautiful pieces with us, and have already started the process of cleaning, photographing, and listing them. It will probably take several months for us to get all of them up in our Etsy shop, but if you see one that interests you, shoot us a message and we will prioritize that piece!
Will we be going back to Miami next year for the antique show and flea market? Oh yes! But before then, we are looking forward to a trip to Brimfield and possibly Vegas if I can convince Laura! Hoping to plan a trip to London within the next several years as well :) Any other shows / antique flea markets around the world we should add to our travel bucket list?! Comment below :)
